People are still commenting to us on what an amazing job Stoddard did, and I couldn't even begin to tell you how many compliments we received on the ceremony (we were even asked to pass along his info). Having looked at and talked with several justice of the peaces prior to contacting Stoddard, I wouldn't hesitate to say that Stoddard was the absolute best we could have gone with. He will always hold a place in our hearts for making such a special contribution to our wedding day. I would echo everyone else's reviews on here--he is truly gifted and any couple would be lucky to have him be the justice of the peace at their wedding.
He also put us at ease throughout the whole process, and as things were very busy before the rehearsal and ceremony, he helped me stay grounded and focused on what was important--letting all the planning go and being present for the commitment we were making to each other. The ceremony felt magical, and because we knew we were in good hands, we both felt completely at ease and able to be fully present throughout it.
We couldn't have been happier with our choice of JOP, Stoddard Melhado is absolutely amazing. He is the sweetest person and instantly makes you feel at ease and understood. We loved all of his recommendations for passages and readings during the ceremony and everything felt very true to us as a couple. I was looking to elope but still have a meaningful ceremony when I came across Stoddard's website. He was very professional and personable from the beginning to the end. My husband and I had a private ceremony in Stoddard's backyard where he has a gazebo and waterfall. It is obvious that Stoddard takes pride in what he does, because his words were touching and unique. He took pictures and supplied us with a written copy of the ceremony. It was absolutely beautiful and exceeded my expectations. I would highly recommend his services to anyone.

I searched a few different sites for a Justice of the Peace and was struck by Stoddard's consideration for couples' needs in all facets of the ceremony - from a desire to ensure the ceremony represented the couple to making sure their guests could appreciate the words they shared by providing a sound system for himself, the couple, and any readers. As I read over his website I fell in love with the idea of him connecting his work as a Justice of the Peace to his passion for rescuing greyhounds. Upon meeting Stoddard, I knew we had found a kindly soul who would work with us and for us, listening to our story and helping us develop a personalized ceremony. Throughout the process he was attentive, caring and flexible - even when we found out right before the ceremony that the Priest who was there, we thought, simply to represent the Catholic Church as a ceremony guest (he insisted he would not be officiating), presented himself to stand beside Stoddard during the ceremony. Stoddard was absolutely wonderful and we received many compliments on his officiating and the quality of the ceremony he so greatly assisted us in creating. Would recommend to everyone!
